7/05- Shingle mill ruins rediscovered.
CCHS member Ron Manger believes he has rediscovered an important past
of Camden's history– the ruins of the shingle mill that gave Shingle
Creek its name. Ron showed his new re-discovery
at a walking tour of Webber Park and the surrounding area on July 9. The
ruins, primarily limestone foundations of the mill and dam and a few valves,
are deep in the woods, well off the beaten path, along the original bed
of Shingle Creek.
